Elise Brown Bio
I chose the name Drummer PR because of its basic, simple connotation (and because there are too many other PR firms named for their female owners, in my view).
I hope it communicates how I’ve always felt about PR — that people respond in different ways to different stimuli (drumbeats), and that everything has its own special beat. Drummers were the original publicists - as conveners, their sounds drew people together to hear the news. Also, my husband (yes — a drummer) has pointed out to me that drummers truly need to play with others. And children typically “play drums” (i.e., bang on something) before they can even speak, because it accomplishes the same effect.
So there you go. Now let’s make some noise.
I launched Drummer PR in spring 2007 after serving as Director of Public Relations and Sr. Manager of Feature Content for Sirius Satellite Radio in NYC for almost six years. Prior to joining Sirius (now Sirius-XM Radio) in 2001, I served as PR or marketing/promotions director for a number of companies or organizations, including:
- Ben & Jerry’s Homemade, Inc. (Waterbury, VT)
- New Jersey State Aquarium (Camden, NJ) - now called Adventure Aquarium
- Q Records/QVC, Inc. (West Chester, PA)
- Radio stations WRUV-FM & WIZN-FM (Burlington, VT); WHEB-FM (Portsmouth, NH); and WXPN-FM (Philadelphia)
- PR agency Resnick Communications (Philadelphia)
In addition to PR, I’ve had a long career in radio broadcasting, as an award-winning on-air music host for:
- WRUV-FM & WIZN-FM (Burlington, VT)
- KLOV (Paris, France)
- WHEB-FM (Portsmouth, NH)
- WXPN-FM, WMMR-FM, and WPLY-FM/Y100 (Philadelphia, PA)
- Host of of nationally syndicated adult alternative music program, The Difference (distributed by United Stations)
- Host of Sirius Satellite Radio adult alternative channel The Spectrum
I also programmed four music channels for Digital Cable Radio (now Music Choice) and have done freelance voiceover work.
I’ve been an invited guest speaker/panelist for events including SXSW, GRAMMY® Career Day, IBS College Radio Conference, and Broadcast Pioneers of Philadelphia. Currently, I’m on the Community Advisory Commission for the radio & TV program at Mercer County, NJ Community College.
